MTG-I1 will improve the accuracy of weather forecasts from several minutes to several hours before events. Thales Alenia Space has built the satellite as prime contractor. In Spain, the company has had a significant participation, with the development of the tracking, telemetry and command transponders, the data transmission assembly in Ka-band, and the video electronics of the flexible combined imager instrument.
