Spain and the Czech Republic are forging closer ties in the space sector to promote joint projects and strengthen their presence in Europe.
In a strategic step towards consolidating Europe as a Space power, Spain and the Czech Republic held an institutional and business mission in Prague on 3 and 4 June 2025, focused on the Space sector.
The event, organised by ICEX Spain Trade and Investment, in collaboration with the Spanish Space Agency, TEDAE, CzechTrade and the Czech Ministry of Transport, brought together representatives from government agencies, research centres and technology companies from both countries, such as Hipasat, GMV, Acorde, Satlantis, Hisdesat, Integrasys and Grupo Oesía, on behalf of Spain.
The opening day was attended by senior institutional officials, including representatives from the Spanish Space Agency and the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic.
During the plenary sessions, the capabilities and strategic priorities of both countries in Space matters were presented, highlighting the complementarity of their ecosystems.
Spain, with a consolidated industry and growing public investment, and the Czech Republic, home to the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA), are positioning themselves as natural partners in the development of Space technologies, Earth observation, satellite navigation and secure communications.
One of the highlights of the event was the business forum, where Spanish companies and technology centres presented their capabilities to a Czech audience of more than 150 entities active in the Space sector.
The networking sessions and B2B meetings made it possible to identify concrete synergies in areas such as systems integration, component manufacturing, scientific research and joint participation in European programmes led by the ESA or the European Commission.
In addition, opportunities for collaboration in Space missions, embedded software development and downstream solutions based on satellite data were explored.
The mission concluded with technical visits to key Czech institutions in the sector, which allowed the Spanish delegation to learn first-hand about local capabilities and establish strategic contacts. This initiative is part of the strategy of ICEX and the Spanish Space Agency to internationalise the national Space sector, facilitate its integration into European value chains and position Spain as a relevant player in the new global Space map.
Cooperation with the Czech Republic, an emerging country in the Space field with strong institutional support, represents an opportunity to move towards a more autonomous, innovative and competitive Europe in Space.
