In the frame of ESA’s Scout missions, the SIRIUS mission is designed to provide night-time observations in the Thermal Infrared (TIR) of several European cities on a daily basis by means of the Smart-TIRI instrument developed by Thales Alenia Space in Spain. The objective is to understand how Urban Heat Islands modify the local climate, a growing phenomenon with significant health, environmental, and socioeconomic implications.
