James Webb\u2019s launch has\nnow been moved back from December 18\nto the 22nd. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1253149 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1253149\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAccording to a new announcement by\nNASA, during operations at the French\nGuiana facilities, \u201ctechnicians were\npreparing to attach the telescope to a\nlaunch vehicle adapter, used to fix James\nWebb to the upper stage of an Ariane 5\nrocket. A sudden, unplanned release of a\nclamp band \u2013 which secures James Webb\nto the launch vehicle adapter \u2013 caused a\nvibration throughout the observatory.\u201d\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2027d42 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2027d42\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThis event may have misaligned the\ninstruments, so NASA decided to perform\nadditional tests to ensure its integrity.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-76c7b8e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"76c7b8e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>This is not the first delay experienced\nby the telescope, which was originally\nplanned to be launched to space in 2007,\nsince it has suffered several problems\nrelated to budgeting, feasibility,\ncomplications with component\nintegrations, and more recently, due to\nCOVID-19.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0b7781a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0b7781a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The institution that has led this\nproject since its creation has been\nNASA, but the European Space Agency\nhas been, and is, a highly valuable ally.\nSpain, through its Astrobiology Center\n(CAB, CSIC-INSTA), plays a major part\nin this mission, since it participated\nin two out of the four instruments of\nJames Webb.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e720504 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e720504\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The NIRSpec instrument (Near\nInfrared Spectrograph) is an\nextremely sensitive spectrograph that\nhas been designed and built by ESA in\ncollaboration with Spanish companies\nof the aerospace sector, which designed\nimportant components of the instrument,\nsuch as its control electronics, cryogenic\nwiring and the cover of the optical system.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c1c5149 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c1c5149\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The versatile MIRI (Mid-Infrared\ninstrument) instrument is a camera,\ncoronagraph and a spectrograph that\nobserves mid-infrared radiation with a\nwide range of capabilities, and thanks to\nSpain\u2019s involvement it will be ten to one\nhundred times more sensitive<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>and will\ncount with an angular resolution 6 to 8\ntimes higher than that of its predecessor\u2019s.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4a89387 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4a89387\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide size-large\" style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" class=\"wp-image-651\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/proespacio.tedae.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/actualidad_r49_jamessWebb_2.jpg?w=788&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"actualidad\" \/><\/figure>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-84905df elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"84905df\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Unlike the Hubble space telescope,\nwhich orbits a bit under 600km above\nsea level, the James Webb telescope\nwill remain at a stationary location\napproximately 1,500,000 km from\nour planet. This enormous distance\nwill not leave room for subsequent\nmodifications or repairs. James Webb\nis an extraordinarily complex scientific\ninstrument that will additionally be\nsubject to extreme stresses.
