The structural and thermal model of the payload of the SMILE mission returned to Airbus Spain after completing thermal testing and deployment tests of the MAG instrument boom at ESA-ESTEC, the Netherlands. Now, a mechanical test is being carried out in the Madrid-Barajas center, in mid-March it will be transferred to China where it will be integrated onto the platform, to complete the qualification of the satellite.
ESA selected Airbus Spain in July 2019 as the main contractor for the European component.
