We are celebrating the 50th issue of our
magazine,
committed to bringing you the latest
on the Spanish space sector.
Born in the year 2002 under the name “InfoEspacio,” the ProESPACIO magazine is a Spanish space industry initiative. Edited by the Association of Spanish Space Companies, now part of TEDAE (Spanish Association of Defense, Security, Aeronautics and Space Technology Companies), its editorial staff is composed of industry professionals who go through great lengths to convey the latest developments of both the national and international space sectors in each issue with the goal of bringing space closer to society.
Throughout these fifty issues, ProESPACIO has grown
in regard to content and guests. Its pages were graced
by Spanish astronaut Pedro Duque, the Director General of the ESA, Johann Dietrich Wörner; the Secretary General of the UN, Ban Kimoon; the Director General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs of the European Commission, Pierre Delsaux; the Director of the International Space University, Juan de
Delmau; Directors General of the CDTI such as Javier Ponce and Elisa Robles; and the Big Van science dissemination comedy ensemble.
In addition to renowned scientists and engineers of the sector and space pioneers such as Valeriano Claros and Álvaro Azcárraga, as well as figures linked to the world of research, such as Cristina Garmendia, President of the COTEC Foundation for Innovation. These are only a few of the most prominent figures featured in our magazine.

Our reports have also broken down the most relevant
space missions, both scientific (Gaia, Seosat, Cheops,
Copernicus, LSTM) and commercial (telecommunication
satellites).
We have featured monographs on the
Moon and Mars, in-depth reports on the emergence of
New Space, digitalization as applied in the sector, European
spaceports and launch vehicles and, more recently,
the role of women in the sector and the increasingly
popular space tourism and its possible future
development.
Some issues have delved even deeper,
reflecting what our politicians think about space (34th
edition), who governs space (31st edition) and the state
of science and technology in Spanish schools (32nd
edition), as well as the historic space sector budgets
in Spain (23rd edition).
In these pages, we have also
analyzed major events, such as the ESA Ministerial
Council in Seville and the first Space Congress in October
of 2019, milestones of the national space sector
in 2019, and the “El Espacio Abierto” days hosted by
TEDAE in 2018.
A publication that evolves with each passing day
IN JUNE, 2015, with the release of our 30th edition, we changed our name from InfoEspacio to ProEspacio, evolucionando también nuestro diseño.
What
was once a single bilingual magazine available in
Spanish and English was split into two kindred,
independent publications, each in its language,
given that the ProESPACIO magazine was born as
a means to convey and disseminate the current
developments of our industry and our sector not
only within Spain, but also internationally
With this in mind, we have always distributed the
publication among the most important space
organizations, sending issues to the European
Space Agency, the Spanish Ministry of Defense,
the Centre for the Development of Industrial
Technology (CDTI), the Instituto Nacional de
Técnica Aeroespacial and the Spanish National
Intelligence Centre (CNI), among other national
and European organizations.
It is our opinion that
it is important to distribute it both among society
and among those who work and collaborate with
the development of the industry.

In 2019 we became more sustainable and digital.
With this decision, we started publishing the
magazine in digital format our way to make it
more sustainable and accessible to all audiences.
The goal was to reach more people and, to this
end, we implemented new digital distribution
channels and media formats to make it easier to
read. We also aimed to create a more eye-catching
design, focusing more on the visual content of the
publication as a whole.
The structure of the publication ranges from a report on a hot topic to an interview with a figure related to the sector, also including an opinion section where an expert on the field discusses the subject addressed by the current edition, the latest developments of the space industry and the latest information on the space sector companies that are part of TEDAE.
The magazine’s editorial staff will continue to innovate and adapt to new trends and technological models so that the publication can evolve in regard to design, accessibility, trending topics and content innovation and that it can continue fulfilling its original purpose: to bring space closer to society.
