The president of the government,Pedro Sánchez, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Executive branch with the fostering and development of the Spanish aerospace industry during his various visits to different companies of the sector in Andalusia during the last few weeks.
In his statements, Sánchez understated the Government’s commitment with the fostering and development of the Spanish aerospace industry to turn it into a key player in the economic transformation through the Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia (Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan).
The head of the Executive branch also stressed the investment efforts made by the Government in the aerospace sector, highlighting the fundamental role of SMEs of the technology and aerospace sector in the recovery and transformation of the economy.
Within the framework of the aerospace Proyecto Estratégico para la Recuperación y Transformación Económica (Strategic Projects for Economic Recovery and Transformation, PERTE), the investments to position Spain as one of the most important technological and industrial production centers in the aerospace sector exceed 2.4 billion euros.
The commitment with this sector has also led to an increase in the Spanish contributions to the European Space Agency (ESA) in 2023, which has a direct effect in the development of this industry in Spain.
Other actions linked to the aerospace PERTE within the space sector are: supporting smallsat launchers, fostering the Atlantic Earth Observation Constellation (jointly with Portugal), creating satellite systems for quantum communications, fostering the Spanish Earth observation system for security and defense, and the creation of the Spanish Space Agency.
